Clusterf@#k: In Stores Now

Apr15
by Jon on 04/15/2016 at 11:15 AM

Yesterday marked the day that Clusterf@#k was finally available in stores. I’m pretty excited about that and hope that people went out and grabbed a copy if they hadn’t done so via Kickstarter or Amazon. If I’d been smart, I would have tried to do some sort of thing where people took pics of it in stores, but I wasn’t thinking. But if anyone sees it in stores, take a picture.

In other news, Diego and Kote will be attending the Festival Internacional del Comic De Santiago this weekend with copies of Clusterf@#k. If you live in the area or are planning to go, be sure to stop by and say hello.

Lastly, the Amazon page for Clusterf@#k currently has the book marked as out of print. I don’t know why, but if you haven’t picked up a copy and were hoping to get one, check out my storenvy page. I have the book available there.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

A Funny Thing Happened Yesterday…

At about 2pm, there was a very spirited knock on my door. I opened it to find an older woman standing on my door steps with a FedEx truck in the background. The woman, who was giving me the Ed Lover ‘C’mon Son!’ face (if you don’t get the ref. google it), shook her head and said “The last man that had this many boxes had to buy me dinner” before leading me to the truck.

21 boxes. 21 boxes that were much heavier than they looked. 21 boxes that made me realize how out of shape I was as I hauled them from the truck across the lawn and up the stairs. At the end, I was tired and I’m pretty sure something shook loose from my lungs, but it was worth it to cut the box open and see these bad boys:

Long story short, the Clusterf@#k books have arrived and they look amazing! Kudos to KrakenPrint for making my book look DAMN GOOD.

Good things come to those who wait.

If you backed the Kickstarter and haven’t checked the page or gotten a notification, I’ve mailed off a huge chunk of the rewards already so expect to see yours shortly.

Hope everyone is as excited as I am. Now the fun part begins. The selling!

Two More Clusterf@#k Reviews!

Feb10
by Jon on 02/10/2016 at 11:44 AM

I woke up at 1am to an e-mail from Diego sending me the link a review for Clusterf@#k by Graphic Policy. I try to catch all the reviews, but I missed it.

After that, I decided to check for other reviews and came across ANOTHER review that I missed by Black Comics Month.

Check them out. I’m humbled to have so many people that dig the book and I’m very appreciative of the team that helped me create a book I can hold in my hands and be proud of.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight

The post-Kickstarter stuff is plugging along while I wait for the books to be printed. But things are going well and I wanted to share this pic of Jim and Karl as two characters from on of my all time favorite anime series.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past 15 or so years, the anime is Cowboy Bebop. I remember when Cartoon Network added this to their Adult Swim line-up. I like Outlaw Star and so I figured I’d probably like this as well. Boy, did I. I had a sci-fi action story that I had been writing at the time (my first really big story) called Lance and The Scythe. Originally, the characters flew and shoot beams out of their hands like Dragonball Z. After watching Cowboy Bebop, I went back and rewrote it. It changed the stories I wanted to write and it changed the way I viewed animation. To say that it had an influence on me is an understatement.

I think the picture is also fitting because the character dynamics match up pretty well. Jim is the hothead who pisses everyone off while Karl is the cooler head that tries to keep Jim in check. Plus, they kind of looked like them already. I mean Jim already had the hair and a blue jacket.

Anyway, I’m really happy with this art and wanted to share it.
